Whether you're out on the water, driving, hiking, working outdoors, or simply enjoying a summer afternoon, your eyes are exposed to intense ultraviolet (UV) radiation every day. Yet eye protection is often overlooked.
For me, this became personal.
In 2024, I was diagnosed with sun spots on my eyes—damage caused by long-term exposure to UV radiation. Like many Kiwis, I had spent years outdoors without fully understanding the lasting effects the New Zealand sun can have on our eyes.
That diagnosis changed everything.
It made me realise that while we regularly protect our skin with sunscreen, many of us forget that our eyes need protection too.
That's why FRMZ Eyewear was created.

One of the biggest reasons FRMZ exists is to support the next generation.
Much of the sun damage that affects people later in life begins during childhood, when eyes are especially vulnerable to UV exposure.
As FRMZ grows, we're committed to giving back to Kiwi kids and supporting initiatives that help educate families about protecting young eyes from the New Zealand sun.
